The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Keon Coleman, the No. 24 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 57 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Logue reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Troy Franklin at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Keon Coleman in pick No. 57 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 25, where Cooper Beebe graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Hart. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braelon Allen at No. 135 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They read the board right and Jaylen Harrell was the payoff at the 203rd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Zion Logue in the 217th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jase McClellan at pick No. 219. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Dwight McGlothern went about where he belonged in pick 246. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
