The Cardinals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Riley Leonard, the No. 100 name on the board, in the Round 6 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. McLaughlin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Shedeur Sanders went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Wyatt Milum at par in pick 40, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kenneth Grant in slot 72 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a cornerback like Domani Jackson reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jaeden Roberts slipping to pick No. 136 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Riley Leonard in the 168th pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Seth McLaughlin, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
