They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jaishawn Barham, 48 picks early at No. 108. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Milroe value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Jalen Milroe in pick 41 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommi Hill at pick No. 72, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They talked themselves into Jaishawn Barham at the 108th pick, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zach Rice this early at the 150th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aeneas Peebles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
