The Panthers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Nick Barrett at the 200th pick regardless, 54 picks early.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Hill Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Anthony Hill Jr. slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Skyler Bell at slot 83 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 119, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Isaiah World come to them and pounced at No. 158. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Louis Moore went about where he belonged in the 159th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nick Barrett. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
