The Panthers clearly saw something nobody else did in Haynes King, taking him 113 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
On value alone, Hurst makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 19 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nice patience on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, who had no business lasting to slot 51. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jake Slaughter in Round 3, Pick 19 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Ted Hurst here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Skyler Gill-Howard at No. 158 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Hezekiah Masses at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Haynes King in pick 200 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
