The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Vaki value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Morgan at slot 34 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Kiran Amegadjie in the 68th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nothing to complain about; Jalen McMillan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jarrian Jones at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Sione Vaki slid further than he should have, and pick 182 is lovely value for the safety. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at Round 7, Pick 9 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
