The phones were a trap the Patriots kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Chambers has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left edge rusher open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 7th overall pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Patrick Paul in Round 3, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Trey Benson at pick No. 102 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Tommy Eichenberg at the 136th pick when waiting would have done the job. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steele Chambers in slot 179 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
