The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Davis value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Every board in the league had Washington lower, and that gap is the story.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
They took Tyler Guyton at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 4, where Jonathon Brooks graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Kiran Amegadjie in the 69th overall pick, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach on Malik Washington in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dallin Holker at No. 139 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Isaiah Williams in slot 182 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jared Wiley at pick No. 224 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had cheaper options than Joshua Cephus at pick No. 226, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Isaiah Davis at slot 232 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
