The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The cost of the Lee reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Landing Legette that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Fair-plus on Tyler Guyton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Legette reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at slot 103. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for Jacob Cowing in the 137th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Logan Lee in pick No. 180 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Jared Wiley in pick 193, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Sheridan Jones slipping to Round 7, Pick 11 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
