It is the swing that defines the weekend: Sam Hartman in Round 7, Pick 11, a good 27 spots before the room expected him.
That McGlothern pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in pick No. 34: Amarius Mims for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Ruke Orhorhoro went about where he belonged in No. 68. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Johnny Wilson this early at the Round 4 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kitan Oladapo at Round 5, Pick 1 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Dwight McGlothern was still sitting there in the 180th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid up for Tanner McLachlan at the 193rd overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sam Hartman well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
