The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
If Dankwah pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That Coleman pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye in slot 3 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Robinson at pick No. 34, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Keon Coleman all the way to pick 68, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked Matt Goncalves enough to skip the value, taking him in the 104th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Johnny Wilson come to them and pounced at No. 136. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dwight McGlothern at the 182nd pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached into another round for Anim Dankwah, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
