They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
The Greenfield reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in pick No. 34. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Keon Coleman at the 37th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Blake Fisher at slot 68 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nice patience on Cam Hart, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jamari Thrash at No. 136 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Garret Greenfield this early at the 182nd overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Rasheen Ali in pick 229. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
