This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Devin Neal, the No. 82 name on the board, stolen at slot 217. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Every board in the league had Conner lower, and that gap is the story. The phones were where this weekend was really won. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jalon Walker in pick No. 38 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ajani Cornelius in slot 76 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Hayden Conner in the 104th pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cam Skattebo at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cobee Bryant this early at pick 143. A minor itch, scratched.
Taking Devin Neal in the 217th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Carson Schwesinger in Round 7, Pick 4 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
The board fumbled James Burnip all the way to pick No. 238, and they scooped it up. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They barely believed it either: Elijah Arroyo still on the board at the Round 7 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
