Thirty-one other rooms let Kaleb Johnson slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at Round 3, Pick 7. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.30 · Pick 30 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 33
In slot 30 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 38
No edge and no loss on Tyler Booker in pick No. 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Kamari Ramsey · S · rank 39
Kamari Ramsey in Round 2, Pick 30 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Kaleb Johnson · RB · rank 41
Circle this one: Kaleb Johnson at the 71st overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 49
Somehow Xavier Watts was still sitting there in pick 78, and they pounced on premier safety value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Charles Grant · OT · rank 92
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Charles Grant. The roster fit checks out.
