The rest of the league will want that one back. Cornelius Johnson tumbling to the Patriots in pick 229 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Reaching for Pratt left real value on the table behind him. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Troy Fautanu in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brenden Rice this early at pick No. 68. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Javon Foster in No. 103 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Michael Pratt in the 104th overall pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jordan Travis in slot 136 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in pick 138 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They robbed the room for Justin Eboigbe here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Caedan Wallace still on the board at the 220th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Cornelius Johnson in the 229th pick, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
