Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If Wiley pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye at Round 1, Pick 4 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
In pick 27 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Ja'Tavion Sanders at No. 34 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Xavier Legette in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Ray Davis at the 103rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Good price on Chau Smith-Wade in slot 137, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor itch, scratched.
Value said wait; Jared Wiley in pick No. 180 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Elijah Jones in the 193rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They reached into another round for Ethan Driskell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
