Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Javon Baker. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Brenden Rice in the 103rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jaheim Bell in Round 5, Pick 1 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Xavier Thomas at pick No. 166 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Josh Proctor this early at pick No. 193. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Trajan Jeffcoat in Round 7, Pick 11 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
