They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Landing Laube that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
They will need Hunt to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in the 34th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Keon Coleman at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nice patience on Khyree Jackson, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 3. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They liked Jalyx Hunt enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 137. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tip Reiman at slot 180 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Dylan Laube in pick No. 193 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Ryan Flournoy at pick 231 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
