The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That McConkey pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Morgan. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ladd McConkey in pick 68 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Braelon Allen went about where he belonged in the 103rd overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Fair-plus on Christian Jones, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Kamal Hadden in Round 6, Pick 5, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Curtis Jacobs at pick No. 193 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
