After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
However the rest shakes out, McConkey at that price is a win they earned. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Foster to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Adonai Mitchell in Round 2, Pick 2, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ladd McConkey in the 68th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Javon Foster at pick 103 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Isaac Guerendo slid further than he should have, and the 137th pick is lovely value for the running back. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Kamal Hadden worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Curtis Jacobs at slot 193, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
