They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Getting Greenfield where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Morgan in slot 34, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick No. 68 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in the 103rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Brenden Rice. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Jarrian Jones at par in the 137th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Kamal Hadden graded well above the range. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Curtis Jacobs at No. 193 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They let Garret Greenfield come to them and pounced at pick 231. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
