The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Hadden pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
They took Jordan Morgan at par in pick No. 34, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Devontez Walker at pick 68 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cole Bishop at the 103rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in slot 137, where Ben Sinnott graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Kamal Hadden in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid sticker price for Curtis Jacobs in the 193rd overall pick, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Tylan Grable went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 11. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
