The one they had to fix is still broken. The Patriots left interior defensive lineman untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
If Hunt pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on Bo Nix in pick No. 34, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Patrick Paul at Round 3, Pick 4 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Braelon Allen in the 103rd pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Jalyx Hunt, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Tip Reiman went about where he belonged in the 180th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Ryan Flournoy in No. 193; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
