The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Jeffcoat pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
However the rest shakes out, Richardson at that price is a win they earned.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Morgan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Xavier Legette come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 4. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Roger Rosengarten at No. 103 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Isaac Guerendo in slot 137 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Marist Liufau graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Decamerion Richardson at the 193rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trajan Jeffcoat well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
