Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Tre Harris, the No. 26 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 104. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Campbell reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Bottom line, with Will Campbell leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
The board had cheaper options than Will Campbell at slot 7, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Wyatt Milum in the 58th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Ashton Jeanty still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tre Harris reach pick 104 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
