The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Bo Nix, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Amegadjie at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Bo Nix and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 20 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Value with a capital V on Amarius Mims in slot 34, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Graham Barton in No. 52, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Dorlus at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Kiran Amegadjie in the 84th overall pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nothing to complain about; Jacob Cowing went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kamal Hadden at the 136th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Davis. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Erick All is a better player than the 229th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
