Start where it matters. The Patriots took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Jordan at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
They will answer for taking S-EDGE early while interior defensive lineman went begging.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Amarius Mims at pick 34 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Kiran Amegadjie went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at pick No. 68 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Roman Wilson in Round 3, Pick 19 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Blake Fisher at No. 105 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 120th pick on Jalyx Hunt with interior defensive lineman unsolved.
James Williams at slot 136 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaiah Davis in pick No. 182 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tarheeb Still at the 188th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid sticker price for Eric Watts in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Erick All in Round 7, Pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jawhar Jordan at No. 238 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
