The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On value alone, Vaki makes the weekend a net positive.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 34 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A quiet steal in No. 47: Ja'Tavion Sanders for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Blake Fisher in Round 3, Pick 4, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Brenden Rice in the 104th pick, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in pick 136, with Johnny Wilson worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Sione Vaki in slot 182 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Garret Greenfield at the 229th overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
