They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Hunt has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye in the 6th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in pick No. 34; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good price on Chop Robinson in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
T.J. Tampa at Round 2, Pick 15 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Brenden Rice at the 68th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at interior defensive lineman and safety sat open.
A curious use of pick 108. Interior defensive lineman and safety needed the pick; a S-EDGE in Jalyx Hunt did not.
Ben Sinnott at No. 136 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Isaiah Davis in the 182nd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jawhar Jordan slid further than he should have, and pick No. 229 is lovely value for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
