The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Getting Stogner where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 20 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Amarius Mims at pick 34. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Ja'Tavion Sanders in Round 3, Pick 4, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
They took Roman Wilson at par in No. 84, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Jacob Cowing in the 103rd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Kamal Hadden in the 137th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 139 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Davis. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Austin Stogner in Round 7, Pick 4 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jalen Green in the 232nd pick, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
