The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched DJ Giddens slide 64 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They robbed the room for Kenneth Grant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 69 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Donovan Jackson in the Round 3 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tez Johnson slid further than he should have, and the 105th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Tommi Hill was the payoff at pick No. 145. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy bit of business in slot 219, where Jack Kiser graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Jordan Hancock slipping to the 222nd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
