You could see the war room lean forward. Dwight McGlothern at slot 231 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Reaching for McCarthy left real value on the table behind him.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
They paid a round early for J.J. McCarthy in the 34th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Keon Coleman still on the board at the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Braelon Allen at slot 102 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Ben Sinnott at the 136th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Mason McCormick was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 4, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
