The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is All. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
If Hunt pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick No. 68 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
They took Cole Bishop at par in pick 103, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Jalyx Hunt, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Circle this one: Dwight McGlothern at the 180th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A tidy little value on Cornelius Johnson in No. 193, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Erick All still on the board at Round 7, Pick 11. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
