The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
They banked enough surplus on Odunze to cover a lot of smaller sins. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Jayden Daniels went about where he belonged in pick 6. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Rome Odunze in No. 34, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Cooper DeJean still on the board at slot 47. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Patrick Paul at pick No. 68 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Renardo Green here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Roger Rosengarten at par in the 137th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A quiet steal in the 180th overall pick: Jaheim Bell for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nice patience on Tip Reiman, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 18. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Garret Greenfield in pick 231, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
