After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The All pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye at the 5th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Ladd McConkey in No. 34, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Patrick Paul at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in slot 103, and the value did not follow. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
