Call it larceny. Quinshon Judkins sat on the board until slot 143, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The cost of the Sorrell reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Taking Luther Burden III in the 38th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Benjamin Morrison at the 69th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in the 77th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They robbed the room for Dylan Fairchild here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Quinshon Judkins at No. 143 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Barryn Sorrell in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylen Reed at pick 220 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Seth McLaughlin at slot 222 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joey Slackman in pick No. 238, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
