The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The Newton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, with Bo Nix leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Jordan Morgan in the 34th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Tyler Guyton at par in No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in pick 68, where Edgerrin Cooper graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Josh Newton in pick No. 103 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Ben Sinnott at the 139th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a running back like Braelon Allen reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Jawhar Jordan was the payoff at the 224th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy little value on Daequan Hardy in pick No. 232, a step better than break-even. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
