The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Tupuola-Fetui lower, and that gap is the story. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
Getting Laube where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy bit of business in No. 34, where Amarius Mims graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Xavier Legette in the 68th pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Ja'Lynn Polk was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 87 with a little surplus value in Khyree Jackson. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Ben Sinnott at pick 104 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kitan Oladapo in slot 136, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the 137th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in slot 168: Dylan Laube for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
