The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That Corley pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
They took Xavier Legette at par in Round 2, Pick 2, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at the 68th pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Malachi Corley was still sitting there in pick 103, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Trevor Keegan at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A running back of that caliber at the 180th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Dwight McGlothern here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Trevin Wallace in slot 231 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
