This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jahdae Barron, the No. 62 name on the board, stolen at the 194th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 34 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Colston Loveland at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Kenneth Grant was still sitting there in the 66th overall pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Quinshon Judkins in the 98th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Tre Harris at Round 5, Pick 2 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jahdae Barron in pick 194, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
