Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The Pritchett value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Johnson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Rome Odunze at the 27th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cooper DeJean slipping to pick 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Xavier Worthy at the 68th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Trey Benson at pick No. 90 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Theo Johnson in Round 4, Pick 3 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had cheaper options than Mason McCormick at No. 137, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Nehemiah Pritchett at slot 180 is a fall that decides a draft. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Delmar Glaze at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Curtis Jacobs at pick 199 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Caedan Wallace in No. 231 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
