The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Pearl falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The Johnson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Fair-plus on Adonai Mitchell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Patrick Paul at par in Round 3, Pick 4, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on Theo Johnson at pick 103, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 137, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Marist Liufau in the 180th overall pick, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.

They will replay Julian Pearl at slot 231 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
