When a board-topper like Omarion Hampton slides to pick 83, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They barely believed it either: Walter Nolen still on the board at pick No. 36. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
