There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cardinals started one anyway for Donovan Jackson, 41 picks ahead of schedule. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Donovan Jackson at pick No. 45 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Dillon Gabriel in the 76th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kyren Lacy at pick 115 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Howard Cross III at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
