The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Raheim Sanders, pick No. 218, roughly 86 picks past where he belonged. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Reaching for Griffith left real value on the table behind him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Malachi Moore at No. 41 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tyler Warren slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the tight end. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jay Higgins at pick 86 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Circle this one: Jalen Royals at Round 4, Pick 7 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Parker Brailsford in pick No. 144 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Raheim Sanders all the way to slot 218, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Barrett Carter was still sitting there in the 220th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thor Griffith well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Denver Harris at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
