The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Nicholas Singleton, pick No. 217, roughly 118 picks past where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The cost of the Wilson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tetairoa McMillan at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Nick Emmanwori still on the board at the 38th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jihaad Campbell at pick No. 69 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Tyler Warren in No. 77, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Jack Nelson at Round 4, Pick 4 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Barrett Carter at pick 143 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jared Wilson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a running back like Nicholas Singleton reach the 217th overall pick and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Raheim Sanders in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Kobe King all the way to the 222nd pick, and they scooped it up. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They will replay Xavier Nwankpa at No. 241 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
