Thirty-one other rooms let Omarion Hampton slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at pick No. 105. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Caldwell has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

In pick 4 they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in No. 36, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Harold Fannin Jr. at the 68th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Tyler Warren at slot 83 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Omarion Hampton at the 105th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jay Higgins at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 220 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Jonah Monheim in Round 7, Pick 10 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
A real head-scratcher, Jamaree Caldwell in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
