The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. No fireworks, but a solid B.
However the rest shakes out, Eichenberg at that price is a win they earned. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
They barely believed it either: Olumuyiwa Fashanu still on the board at Round 2, Pick 2. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ricky Pearsall is a better player than pick No. 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A quiet steal in pick 103: Trey Benson for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ben Sinnott at the Round 5 slot is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 180 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They robbed the room for Dwight McGlothern here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy little value on Jaden Crumedy in No. 231, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
