The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
The board fumbled Olumuyiwa Fashanu all the way to No. 34, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Lynn Polk. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaac Guerendo at slot 104 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Ben Sinnott in the 136th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Jarrian Jones at pick 182 for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No edge and no loss on Trevin Wallace in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
