The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Reaching for Lee left real value on the table behind him.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 34 with a little surplus value in Adonai Mitchell. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Kiran Amegadjie at the 68th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Braelon Allen in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Christian Jones in the 137th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tip Reiman in Round 6, Pick 5 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A real head-scratcher, Logan Lee in pick No. 193 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trevin Wallace at No. 231 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
